2009 was the first Cross Country County Championships after the restructure from the 6 old associations to the 4 new super zones.  This saw the 4 new zones compete to become the first super zone County champions. The event was hosted by the PGL outdoor activity centre in Caythorpe and was the first time the centre had hosted a Cross Country event. The varying terrain and obstacles around the course proved to make for some very exciting, gruelling and enjoyable races.

 

Over 340 runners from a variety of schools around the County competed. A total of 8 races were completed across 4 different age groups. The top 6 runners back from each zone made up the team total. The winning zones for each age group are displayed below;
